Sometimes I do shoots that just leave, well, a lot to be desired. A model against a boring white background. Endless changes in clothes, but hair and makeup stay the same all day long. Usually the type of shoot that designers do to show their clothes for lookbooks, PR agents, etc. Not very exciting.
And then there are days when you get with a team of creative people that just GET it. Creativity, imagination, amazing styling, hair, makeup, and a fantastic model. Same thing, a designer shooting his creations. But with flair.
We shot in a morrocan furniture store on La Brea in Los Angeles, with endless rooms of the most amazing furniture and about 15 outfits to shoot. The model and I made up a story about a Morrocan Princess who flees her castle to find fame and fortune in the celebrity zone of Hollywood to be her inspiration for the shoot. It was a very long day.
But a long day of shooting that left me feeling like I just shot for Italian Vogue.

Hint: Spring makeup trends. See? Matte lips in nude, a lot of contour (no babydoll blush here) and focus on the crease of the eyes…. All matte.
My heart just sings when I see this. THIS is why I do what I do. ![]()

Just FYI, I’ll be taking off to Sin City (aka NYC) till the end of October! So be beautiful and happy till I get back. Hopefully I’ll have loads of NY stories to unfold and cool beauty tidbits to share when I get back. Till then!
